Given that AUNOHR is a novel concept in higher education, the founders decided to launch its pilot project through implementing a comprehensive university study model.
The pilot project spanned the years 2009-2011; as a result of the subsequent appraisal by students, professors, administration, and founders, as well as deriving the exact indicators to take into consideration, everybody expressed satisfaction saying it was “A dream come true.”
74 participants were enrolled in this program, from six Arab countries: Palestine, Syria, Iraq and Kurdistan, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon. In their videotaped testimonies, they said: “A turning point”.
Twenty professors, lecturers, and trainers, including intellectuals and pioneers have enriched the pilot project with depth and originality, and felt they belonged to a unique academic journey.
This pilot project paved the way for examining the efficiency of the curricula as well as students’ and professors’ reaction to it, and thus identifying the needs and difficulties. Subsequently, the complete portfolio was presented to Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) in 2012. Soon after that, AUNOHR was launched as a full-fledged modern academic institution granted by a legal license on 2014, followed by the permission to commence classes on 2015.
