Pilot model 2009

Given that AUNOHR was an innovative concept in the realm of higher education and academic programs, the founders opted to establish and launch a pilot model. Thus, after creating a curricula of 9 distinct academic programs, the pilot was launched: this included a full roll-out of 5 subjects of AUNOHR’s academic programs/majors, and a testing of the content, structure, and methods of these programs. Additionally, the feedback of both teachers and students was collected, and the needs, as well as challenges, were identified.

The pilot was implemented between 2009 and 2011.
In the evaluation that followed, all parties expressed satisfaction “a dream that came true”.

The administration had received over 100 applications from over 6 Arab countries; 78 students completed the full program. The students came from Palestine, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon. In some of their written and/or videotaped testimonies, they said : “One of the best university experiences that we have encountered whether in our mother country or abroad”, “An innovative pedagogical approach for self-development”, “Deep intellect and massive potential of teachers”, “A study that is philosophical, theoretical, yet practical, and it opens up expanded career horizons”, “The most important thing is that we have become a core group for a nonviolent Arab community, and this is what our region needs”.

20 instructors, professors, lecturers, and trainers, including intellectuals and pioneers from all over the world, have enriched this first pilot with depth and originality. They expressed feelings of pride to belong to a new and unique academic mission: “we are honored”.

This pilot paved the way to revising the curricula and better structuring of course methods, and later on to submitting a complete portfolio to the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MEHE) in 2012. Soon after that, AUNOHR was launched as a full-fledged modern university. Legal recognition was acquired on the 4th of September 2014; this was followed by a permission to initiate classes on the 19th of August 2015.
